ITINERARY

Day 1: Algeciras - Tangier - Fez

ALGECIRAS, SPAIN to FEZ, MOROCCO

Ferry across the Straits of Gibraltar to TANGIER, Morocco, Northern Africa. After customs, travel to FES, the oldest Imperial City of Morocco. Special Folklore Show with Multi-course Fassi Dinner where you meet your guide to plan your next day’s tour. We prefer the ryads- restored palaces- for their hospitality and unique atmosphere where you stay.

Day 2: Fez

FEZ

Tour Fes. The most Imperial City of Morocco!!!! Visit the largest souk in Morocco and in Africa. Your official guide will help you visit all the palaces and special historic places here. The handicrafts made in the medina include bronze and metal work, leatherwork ceramic tiles, jewelry. Antique shops and carpet shops are of first quality. Fez was the spiritual and cultural center of Morocco and has multiple facets to explore. Intimate dinner at your ryad.

Day 3: Fez - Merzouga

FEZ to MERZOUGA SAHARA DESERT

Travel through Mid Atlas Mountains with changing landscape and changing culture toward the desert of Merzouga. Pass through the Valley of Ziz with miles of palm trees and Morocco’s Grand Canyon. After Rissani travel out to Erg Chebbie Sand Dunes, to HAVEN LA CHANCE DESERT HOTEL, the base for BLUE MEN OF MOROCCO CO in Morocco. All Meals in the desert included.

Day 4: Merzouga

MERZOUGA

Perhaps visit Rissani on a market day where nomads come to trade. Visit and lunch with our Berber families and friends in Merzouga. The local Berber cooperative has Berber carpets and antique jewelry. We encourage shopping here for good prices and supporting the local economy. You shall be offered lots of Berber tea! In the afternoon, begin your camel bivouac into the dunes and sleep under the stars- in bivouac tent. Campfire dinner and breakfast.

Day 5: Merzouga

MERZOUGA

Continue your mini “Sahara trek” with another day by camel in the dunes. Lunch, dinner and breakfast. Sleep again under the stars or in your bivouac tent

Day 6: Merzouga - Azrou

MERZOUGA to AZROU

After returning from your Sahara camel trek, shower at our Hotel and retract your trip north thru the Mid Atlas to Azrou, a Berber mountain village located near a cedar forest with Barbary apes. 3 star Hotel here. Dinner Included.

Day 7: Azrou - Asilah

AZROU to ASILAH

Visit Volubilis, Roman ruins from 27 B.C.. (many authentic mosaic floors are worth seeing) before traveling to Asilah on the Atlantic Coast with an immense sandy beach. Explore the village and ancient kasbah walls before dining on local seafood and fish. We use the best hotel available at the moment- a 3* close to the center of town. We prefer not to stay in Tangier but in this smaller intimate city. Dinner is not included as there are several scrumptious seafood restaurants.

Day 8: Asilah - Algeciras

ASILAH, MOROCCO to MALAGA, SPAIN

Short drive along the coast towards Tangier with a visit to Hercules Cave and Tangier. Your driver/guide will help you with ferry tickets as you take ferry to Spain.

Tour Details

We prefer using riads that are restored places in Fez and 3* hotels in Azrou and Asilah. Included are Desert hotel rooms or Bivouac nomad tents, overnight Camel Excursion; special Folklore dinner show in Fez, official guide, entrance fees, ferry tickets. Continental or Buffet Breakfasts and 6 Dinners.

Transportation is a new comfortable 4 x 4 or SUV vehicle with an English-speaking driver who is your overall guide throughout the trip. He meets you at the port in Tangier and helps you with your return from Tangier to Spain.

Not included are Ferry tickets, tips, alcoholic drinks or travel insurance that is required.
